A large horizontal boring machine at the York facility was being underutilized, so the company decided to redeploy it to a sister plant in Canada.

Northeastern Millwright Services coordinated the controlled shutdown and disassembly of the machine. Hydraulic lines, electrical connections, and removed components were cataloged and labeled to preserve the information needed for reassembly. The machine was separated into transportable assemblies, packed, secured, and loaded onto flatbed trucks for shipment.

Redeploying a Large Horizontal Boring Machine

Relocating the horizontal boring machine allowed the company to move an underused production asset from York to a sister operation where it could be placed back into productive service.

Because of the machine's size and complexity, the relocation required a controlled sequence. Electrical and hydraulic connections were identified and labeled before major assemblies were separated, packed, and prepared for over-the-road transport.
