Industrial Equipment Relocation
Large Horizontal Boring Machine Relocation from York, Pennsylvania to Canada
A large horizontal boring machine at the York facility was being underutilized, so the company decided to redeploy it to a sister plant in Canada.
Northeastern Millwright Services coordinated the controlled shutdown and disassembly of the machine. Hydraulic lines, electrical connections, and removed components were cataloged and labeled to preserve the information needed for reassembly. The machine was separated into transportable assemblies, packed, secured, and loaded onto flatbed trucks for shipment.

Industrial Asset Redeployment
Redeploying a Large Horizontal Boring Machine
Relocating the horizontal boring machine allowed the company to move an underused production asset from York to a sister operation where it could be placed back into productive service.
Because of the machine's size and complexity, the relocation required a controlled sequence. Electrical and hydraulic connections were identified and labeled before major assemblies were separated, packed, and prepared for over-the-road transport.
- Controlled shutdown and preparation: coordinated the shutdown, established the disassembly sequence, prepared the work area, and identified assemblies requiring separate handling.
- Connection documentation: cataloged and labeled electrical conductors, connection points, hydraulic lines, and hydraulic connections for future reassembly.
- Disassembly and removal: disconnected service connections, separated transportable assemblies, removed major components, and managed controlled lifts.
- Packing and loading: protected and organized components, secured and wrapped assemblies where required, and loaded the equipment onto flatbed trucks.
Connection Documentation
Documented for Future Reassembly
Before components were separated, NMS cataloged and labeled hydraulic and electrical connections so the relationship between the removed assemblies and the machine systems would remain clear during future reassembly.
This approach preserves important connection information when equipment is moved between facilities and helps the receiving team understand how disconnected lines, conductors, and machine components relate to the original installation.

Shutdown to Shipment
- ShutdownCoordinate a controlled stop and prepare the equipment for removal.
- DocumentCatalog and label electrical, hydraulic, and component connections.
- DisconnectSeparate service connections while preserving identification.
- DisassembleBreak the machine into assemblies suitable for controlled handling.
- PackProtect and organize components for over-the-road transit.
- LoadSecure the packaged assemblies onto flatbed trucks for shipment.
